You may recall my efforts to post a page devoted to the great Douglas
Bollen on wikipedia. The page was summarily rejected by one of
wikipedia's bods, on the grounds that Doug was not a notable enough
character.
I have now found another way of getting the great man where he
belongs:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notable_Usenet_personalities
Trouble is, I don't know enough about Doug's earlier usenet career - I
have only encountered him on uk.transport. My knowledge of his
earlier obsessions, such cabals, is superficial. Does someone else
with more knowledge fancy adding him to this page?
PS I am familiar with one of the people listed - Mikey Schimdt, who
used to post to a trumpet usenet group. IMO, Doug is at least as
crazy as Mr Schmidt.
I note with bitter disappointment that a Mr Chris Buckley doesn't appear on
that page.
Mr Buckley took Usenet fuckwittery to dizzy heights - to a level that Doug /
Tommy can only dream of.
His shenanigans gained him the credit of being the first person in the UK to
be taken to court by an ISP - not bad considering he was only around 15 / 16
years old.
