There is a world of difference between genuine vehicle safety and the
claptrap emotive rubbish put out this morning in this newsgroup.

Can you tell me then as a supposed HGV driver if you've ever seen a
tyre fitter simply repair a puncture and pump up a flat lorry tyre or
whether they've just changed it?




I am not a supposed lorry driver, I was one for 16 years when I was mostly an
owner driver.

Normally in the UK they just change it. other places they will repair it by
the road or take it to the workshop and return with it fixed, this depends on
the stock situation amoungst other things,

I occasionally drive for a local farmer now I am retired and he has all his
tyre events attended by ATS, if they remove a tyre for repair they replace it
by the road, the original, if servicable is repaired and eventually sent to
the local ATS for use by the Farmer at a later date. He has several in stock
there now.

In my day you carried the gear with you and did it yourself, most of todays
drivers wouldn't know where to start.
