There is now a widespread regulation of smokers in the UK then why not
motorists? Why should certain individuals be allowed to physically
harm others in this way?

"City pollution from car exhausts could be causing heart damage, say
scientists, who have also found increasing evidence linking smoke from
fires and tobacco to heart attacks, cardiovascular disease and clogged
arteries.

Speaking at the American Association for the Advancement of Science
annual meeting in Boston, researchers argued that more regulation was
needed to curb the potential harms of pollution.

"In rapidly modernising regions, environmental regulations are
frequently avoided in the interest of improving economic growth," said
Matt Campen, of the Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute in
Albuquerque, New Mexico. "Thus, the global cardiovascular health
burden from air pollution is likely to escalate dramatically over the
coming decades."

Research has provided mounting evidence that air pollution can both
increase the risk of cardiovascular disease in the long-term and
induce heart attacks within hours of traffic exposure..."

Oh dear. Dough, like millions of Daily Wail readers (I know this isn't from
that particular rag) falls into the usual trap.

All such articles in the press that say "Study shows that X can do Y"
actually means:
"Researchers have noticed a minor correlation between X and Y, but no causal
link whatsoever. Now they are looking for funding to continue their research
which, if the get it, may or equally, may not prove some link."
The clue is in the liberal use of words like "might", "may", "could" etc.

So in actual fact, this is meaningless, like most similar stories saying
this food or that food is good for you/bad for you.

So you reject ALL scientific studies for the same reason? If so, on
what do you use for a knowledge base?
