Got wardens last October. Over 2500 Tickets issued already. It's odd
but I now don't have any bother at all finding parking spaces in the
last few "free" on street spaces with 1 hour limits that the local
robbing council haven't stuck pay and display on.

Why call them the robbing council better they charge for car parking
than sticking another tenner on your tax bill to cover what they where
loosing by not charging for parking isn't it . Really you are like
all the people who moan and groan about the price of fuel and tobacco
and ale better the government put a few more quid on those things in
tax than slapping it on food etc .Just like the people who are always
moaning about smokers if the gov was not getting one hell of a lot of
cash from smokers in tax and VAT they would be putting more tax on
fuel and ale and maybe food and clothing also .

Yes, better that those who choose to use a car pay than those who need
to eat food and wear clothes to survive.

Why not just tax unhealthy foods and luxury clothing ( anything other
than very basic clothing). That way people have the food and clothing
they need to survive. Anything more than that they pay for the luxury
aspect, just like you say they should for daring to have a car.

Yes that might work, as long as the government is properly informed as
to which foods are unhealthy, which I doubt,
It managed it rather well during the second world war; admittedly as a
secondary aim.
Bring back rationing and you would quickly get a healthier population.

Also, dietary reccommendations tend to be highly individual, one man's
meat, etc...

Allow people trade bits of their ration cards.
