Didn't you say that there was nothing unsafe about someone driving at
172 m.p.h.?

I asked how many peopel died in that incident. I would like you to tell
me exactly, in round numbers, what the death toll was.

I would find it pretty intimidating to think that I was sharing a road
with such a nutter.

Why? I regularly drive on German autobahns where cars like that are
driven flat out, what is there to be intimidated by? You do return to
lane 1 after overtaking, don't you?

Or are you perhaps just telling pork pies in order to bolster a stupid
story by Toomy?

Steve, try being less vicious in your replies for once. In return, I will answer your points as respectfully as I can.

Dangerous, by implication implies a possibility of death or injury. It doesn't need someone to die to still be dangerous. From www.dictionary.com: "full of danger or risk; causing danger; perilous; risky; hazardous; unsafe". Nowhere can I find a definition of dangerous that says, "Having caused death".

My guess is that the German autobahns are built for those kind of speeds. British roads have never been built for speeds above 70 m.p.h.

Bear in mind as well (As I thought you knew by now) that I am a cyclist. The idea of someone coming up behind me at a speed of even 70 m.p.h. is extremely intimidating. 172 would probably sweep me off my bike before the driver had even realised that I was there.
