I am anti-electric car because they are too polluting. They might be
clean
at the point of use, but, with transmission and storage losses, they
produce
around three times as much pollution at a power station as a modern
internal
combustion engine does at the point of use. While centralising the
pollution
does make it easier to deal with, there is still a lot more of it.

Does this three times figure include the pollution involved in
extracting
crude from the ground and converting it into refined fuel in the car's
fuel tank?

The parameters are clearly stated in my post. However, going down the
holistic route does no favours to the electric vehicle. For example, but
by
no means an exhaustive list: a coal fired power station may be using fuel
that has travelled half way around the globe, while the land around one
battery manufacturing plant is so devastated that NASA has used it to
test
extra-terrestrial vehicles.

Yes, as I keep on suggesting, the obvious approach is to reduce so
much reliance on ALL sources of energy by a radical change of
lifestyle which does not require as much hypermobility. That way when
the crunch comes people will be better equipped to deal with it and
fewer will die.

Why this fixation on cars when it's other forms of consumption that use more
energy?

You obviously haven't noticed yet that I also berate tourist air
travel and the greenwash employed by energy suppliers, to name a few.
