Maybe they have been there as long as you claim but they are far from
unique, From memory the only thing in the vicinity of any historical
value is Cranford Church and the old Manor house (maybe that's no
longer there, I'm going back to the fifties, pre M4).

Progress demands change, we loose a little to gain a lot.

"Gain a lot" for who and for how long?

Sadly change is often confused with progress. They're not the same.
