The Tories have been in power for about 26 years since 1960 and Labour for
19 years. However, Labour could stay in for another 4 years which would
bring it up to 26:23. Not exactly a 'vast majority'.

Personally I think we need a change of voting system as Labour was elected
last time on only 36% of those that voted or 24% of the whole electorate. Or
look at the Feb 74 election, when over 300,000 more people voted Tory, but
Labour won 4 more seats. Which led to the Lib-Lab pack until a new election
later the same year. Not exactly democratic.
