Individual Bus Numbering (London Fleet)

Sitting on Hammersmith Broadway bus station last night waiting for the
Berrys bus back home and watching all the LT buses going round and round.
Now, I'm used to RT4401, RM756 etc and, at a quick glance that's still
what's going on. Except that the RM, RT, RF method referred to the make
and model of the bus (generally and albeit a bit of an imagination strecth
sometimes) while the current ones seem to have a different logic.

For instance, single deckers of type NCP - legal lettering says NCP. First
buses, V something with a five (or was it six) digit number which I'm
guessing is the First fleet number UK wide with an LT prefix?

So is there any logic these days or is it a free for all?
