The arithmetic's not quite right there, in a way that's being most
over-generous to BT. The suggestion being made is that BT Retail are not
happy to make as little as 144% profit on it (buy for £1.64, sell
for £4), but would prefer the old situation of an infinite
percentage profit (buy for £0, sell for £4)
That does ignore the very large number of cases where BT make a loss
(buy for £1.64, sell for £0) now that BT Privacy exists. I expect
there'll be a charge soon.
The most infuriating thing is i'm WILLING to pay for it, and whatever
they want to charge (within reason of course) but they're point blank
refusing to provide it... more worryingly I know someone who IS paying
for it, and it appears on their bill but it hasnt worked once yet...
recently discovered it's due to the same problem.
I sympathise. When I moved to ISDN2e, it took the clowns over three
months to give me caller ID, despite it being mentioned on the original
order (and they missed off an MSN, but that's another story...)
