Appin,
I've sent the doc attached to a separate email. Hope you find it useful.
I agree with your comments about the 2828. Pity it was let down by it's
dodgy power supply. Peter Williams at Omnicom (and laterTetrel) was very
helpful to me too.
Regarding making all stations ring from another extension on the 624, I too
miss that feature. I don't think you've missed anything obvious. I spent
ages trying to find a practical way to do it but without success.
Regards,
David Tong.

The message <d6cg38$aa8$1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
from "David Tong" <gz30@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> contains these words:
I replaced our 2828 with a Panasonic KXTA624 three years ago.<snip>
Compared to the neat little 2828, the KXTA624 is a sledgehammer to crack
a
nut. However it's proved totally reliable. Programming it needed a fair
bit of study plus a bit of trial and error. In case I ever have to do it
again I wrote it all up in step-by-step form in a 6-page article. If you
decide to get a 624 I'd be happy to send you a copy.
I use a proprietory phone (KX-T7730) to program it, the others are all
standard ones. I find the facilities on the PT more useful than I
expected, especially the loudspeaking function and the easy transfers,
but
we have normal phones everywhere else in the house because the PTs look
too
'officey'.
Well, if I can revive an old thread, I've replaced my much used and
loved 2828 with a KXTA 624.
Yes, I'd welcome your step-by-step progrramming guide -- the manuals
seem to be somewhat perverse in their programming instructions.
I have the 624 up and running and have managed to persuade it to accept
calls on both incoming lines but send out only on line 2 -- which is
what I want.
But does anyone know if it can do the neat trick that the 2828 did so
simply when an incoming call was answered at one extension and by
dialling 200 you could set all the other extensions ringing so that
anyone else, anywere on the premises, other than oneself, would
(hopefully) answer the call?
The Omnicom was not a masterpiece of engineering, but it had three
things going for it
1) features that were genuinely useful in the real world
2) a programming setup that was simple
3) a wonderful Welshman at Tetrel who answered every question thrown
at him, gave sensible, real-world answers with no flannel at all, and
always gave the appearance of having all the time in the world. Who he
was, I don't know, but he must rate as the best tech support I've ever
come across.
OK, then, has anyone any answers to my problem -- I'm probably missing
something very obvious, because it took me ages to find "automatic
designated outside line access."
