| Thanks - all good points and potential causes of problems. Happily it seems
| to be working OK now, after supplying pin 3 and 4 from the master socket. Now
| I just have to find out why the last socket in the chain won't ring the phone!
|
| I did take a look at the phone wiring. It bears some similarity to the
| description given in How to wire your Telephone No. 314 to make it work on
| Plug and Socket - though some of the connections are not on the same terminal
| numbers. It would help to have the circuit diagram - there must be one
| somewhere, as the volume and quality of vintage phone info on the web is
| excellent generally.
|
| Does anyone know whether the ringing cadence was the same in 1957 (when this
| example was made)? I'll be connecting it to a VOIP box eventually, on which I
| have the option of setting the ring cadence. It would be nice to set a period
| ring, if the ring then was any different to what it is now!
|
| Thanks to everyone who replied.
|
| - Martin.

The ring cadence would have been dependant on the Frequency and Voltage of the
ring signal.
I'm sure there are some old 'rings' out there as sound files someplace.
