This may be obvious, but not to me. I have a normal ISDN connection
in Spain, which has been occasionally dropping out; the line was
normally successfully reset by the next incoming call. The other
day, it dropped and couldn't be reset by dialling in. I powered down
the Telefonica box, and while I was waiting for it to settle down - no
power to it - an incoming call successfully passed through it to the
Euracom ISPBX. Since then, still with no power, it's worked
perfectly.
Can someone give me an idiot's explanation?
Don't know about Spain in particular, but the exchange
normally provides power for the NTE, and sometimes a
small amount of extra power for a low powered ISDN
appliance.
