They are a computer company so why can't the support be done online. I
had a problem with Norton earlier in the year. I was able to contact
their technical help people online in a format similar to Messenger. It
was better than a telephone call because they could send me URLs for
various patches and there were no difficulties in understanding what
they were saying.
Didn't solve the problem - they tend to latch on to something you say
and offer a particular "fix" program (there must be an infinite number
of fixes on their site!).
Not infinite - after a while you get the same answers again. In my case
I got fed up with the wild-goose chase of links and downloads and
suggestions of how to screw up my system, so I solved the problem
another way (using a download from their site that they hadn't referred
me to) and told them what I'd done, so that they could do better helping
others in future. Back came yet another suggestion of how to fix the
problem, identical to one I'd had several weeks earlier, but with no
acknowledgement of anything I'd written.
I saw not the slightest scrap of evidence that anyone ever read any of
my messages. It's a just a robot - a robot with a somewhat limited
repertoire.
