Hi, I have had a BT Freestyle 4500 with 3 handsets for the last
year and its just developed a fault, its not ringing through the
handset properly and
I am missing calls.
Take it back to where you bought it from and ask for a repair,
mentioning the Sale of Goods Act. It should last longer than a year.
Owain
it was with a years warranty, so I bought it thinking I could
take it to a bt shop etc, I filled in the card etc, I phoned bt who
gave me a fault code, and I went back to the seller who no
longer trades etc, I bought the phone in Aug 05, I thought the
guarantee was to the manufacturer apparently I can only sort it out
through the original trader, I do like this phone too.

No, your contract is with the shop you bought it from, be it Currys or Comet
etc, many of these shops do however try and fob you off and say it is the
manufacturer that you need to contact when a fault arises, this isn't the
case it is them that has to sort out the problem. However many manufactures
will deal directly if you have proof of purchase. BT however don't
manufacturer the phones, they just buy in cheap phones badged up, or
occasionally re-badge very good phones, you could try contacting the BT
division that handles this side of the business.
