I get this from time to time as well.Graham,
Can you describe the course of events when you receive one of these calls?
I am wondering if they are genuinely GSM data calls.

My phone rings with a strange tone and the display says "Data Call". I then
have the option to answer it or reject it. If I reject it, my message
store provides a number to call. I have called this number but the company
say they have no record of my name or mobile number.

I've finally figured that it is someone misdialling a voice call and
getting my incoming fax number by mistake. The phone displays Data
Call, but there are no data tones. Several times in rapid succession
this would occur, confirming that someone was trying to voice call a
number, so I tried connecting my mob to a computer so it would answer
the call as a fax, but it merely dropped the call after only few
seconds.
I suspect this is what you are experiencing. And by the way you
incoming fax or data number may not be anywhere numerically near your
voice number - mine isn't!
