Whilst having a look at mobile BB providers (see other post) I looked at
The Vodafone offerings:
3gb per month for 2 years with dongle = 24 x £15 = £360
3gb per month for 2 years with 'free' laptop = 24 x £30 = £720
Clearly the laptop isn't free, it's £360 with payment spread over 2 years.
There are similar 'offers' from other suppliers as well.
Vodafone would say the £360 is the total charge for the data over 2
years, and the Dell Netbook comes free with that.
If they had structured the package in another way and said the £360
was for the laptop, and the 3GB of data was free for 2 years would you
be happier with that, or would you still have said they were lying
because they were charging for the data?

I'm not sure if you misread my mail or if I wasn't clear enough (or I am
misunderstanding your reply).
The cost of the package with the 'free' laptop is £360 *more* than the
cost of the same package without the 'free' laptop (£720 v £360).
I see what you mean. It still doesn't alter the fact that Vodafone can
market each product package in whatever way the want. The fact that
one particular package may be better value than another doesn't mean
they're lying about the other packages they sell.
