Email to SMS in UK?

Hi there,
I have two 'phones - one on Orange and one on O2 if that is of any
consequence...
I use a couple of applications where alerts can be specified to be sent via
email that will generate an email without intervention from me and send
using SMTP.
Obviously my own mail client does not get involved and the email is flagged
as coming from the software manufacturers own servers.
This works well when I want to send an email but what if I would rather send
a text instead of an email?
What would be the best way to achieve this?
Do Orange or O2 offer a service where I could specify an email address to
send to and this email would be sent to the SMS gateway for want of a better
word and I would receive the contents of the email as an SMS text to my
mobile phone?
If not could some kind soul recommend a supplier who offers this at
reasonable cost (or free of course! :-)
As a secondary consideration it would be good if there were an Outlook
plug-in from the same supplier so it gives me the option of sending an SMS
via Outlook - not essential but a nice added value feature :-)
I do not use an Exchange server if that has any bearing...
The important part for me is the option to receive the SMS text to my mobile
'phone from the email.
Thanks & regards,
-=Glyn=-
