Is it a T-Mobile branded phone? Maybe they have done something stupid with the operator logos or something...
I do wish operators would stop messing with the phones, they always seem to mess
it up and provide absolutley no benefits.My MIL has an N70 on Orange and when
you go through the menus, it is like they are two different phones.

I've just come back from Montreux and my T-Mobile Nokia 2310 display showed (variously) Orange F and Orange CH as the network connected.
