Problem is: I'd need to use my phone as a modem for my laptop from time to
time for emails and web browsing (email and web browing on a mobile phone
is cool but when you actually need to get some work done, a laptop with a
proper screen and keyboard is pretty much mandatory). Three X-Series T&C
prevent this but has anybody tried it? Do they actually enforce this
restriction or could I occasionally use my Three phone as a modem as long
as I don't start downloading giga bytes of data?
My understanding is that all of the Three services that fall under X-Series
are by proxy. You can't, for example, install your own internet app on your
phone and use it for free, unless it's able to route through the available
proxies.
Oh no, are you telling me that I won't be able to use applications such as
the Gmail java midlet or the ShoZu blogging application because they are
not specifically included in X-Series?
Or is this proxy transparent to the applications and routes all the usual
protocol on the usual ports (HTTP, HTTPS, POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP at least)
automatically?
I think I'm gonna go mad here trying to understand those silly data plans
and all their stupid restrictions, limited unlimited allowances and mad
pricing.
