They refused on the basis that the mobile phone number was not on the
front of the original Orange invoice I sent to them. Their T&C's never
stated that this had to be the case and only asked for an original
invoice which I supplied. I later gave them the link between the Orange
invoice and the mobile number but they still refused to honour cashback
deal. Every single one of the T&C's were met.
Take them to small claims court. It's quite easy apparently, and you
will win for sure.

There answer to my threat of county court action. Friendly bunch seeing
as I have demonstrated the account is linked to the correct mobile
number in response to their original response............ sort of
forced to carry on
Dear Mr Byrne
Unfortunately you have not demonstrated this as there is no mobile
number on the bill you supplied to us. People are able to have multiple
contracts on the same account number which is why we require the number
on the bill that you supplied. Additionally we do not have access to
your account details as they are confidentially held by Orange so would
not be able to check which numbers are live on your account.
I hope you can see that there is no link between the documentation you
have sent us which is why we have refused your claim.
If you do decide to go to the SCC, please be aware that we have set a
precedent in such cases and will use that to our advantage.
Best regards

There are 2 things that work in your favour.
Firstly you could ask Orange to supply written confirmation that your
original mobile number was overwritten by a port-in number. In fact if
you don't have any luck through the regular channels (I would suggest
the exec office) contact me privately and I will do this for you.
Secondly, they are right. It is possible for the same person to have 2
mobile numbers. However, when an Orange customer takes out an additional
line this would show on the first available bill as a part-month
subscription alongside the first subscription and is therefore easily
identifiable. They will know this and are simply trying to frighten you
off.
If it were me I would press on with the action.
I would also be intrigued to find out more about this legal precedent as
I'm fairly sure it would not stand up to much scrutiny.
