Using phone abroad to call uk mobile number also abroad

Hi,
My mates and I are going on holiday in a few days time but we are staying in
different hotels. If I called him (we're in Gran canaria) would be classed
as a call back to the UK or something else? I have the promotional o2 euro
so calls back to uk mobile number and landlines are 35p a minute but not
sure if this applies to other uk mobiles on the same island!
