Howdy - just got this phone and very happy with the functions, however
there seems to be a problem connecting to gprs (and such, cannot send
mms messages or connect to the mobile net).
Does anyone have/know the gprs setting so i can get it working and
connect to the internet etc?
Many thanks,
DrP
(as the title suggests, im on O2!)
The following is information I collected from various net sources when I was
setting up my XDA EXEC. Note some setting differ for PAYG vs. contract.
XDA EXEC Settings
Go ... Settings > Connections >
1)
My ISP >
New >
name "Mobile Web" >
Modem "Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)" >
Access point name "mobile.o2.co.uk" >
User name "O2web"
Password "password"
Advanced Button > Servers tab "Use specific server address"
193.113.200.200
193.113.200.201
2)
My Work Network
New
Enter name for the connection "My O2 Connection"
Select a modem "Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)"
Access point "payandgo.o2.co.uk"
User name "payandgo"
Password "password"
3)
From the MMS mailboxMenu
MMS Configuration
Servers tab
New
Server name "O2UK"
Gateway "193.113.200.195
Port "9201"
Sever address "http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Connect via "My Work Network"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To setup the XDA on PAYG for internet:
Go to Settings, click on the Connections tab & click on "Connections"
In the first dropdown, "When needed, automatically connect to The Internet
using these settings:" select "New..." and give the connection a name
(Mine's O2 Wap)
On the "Modem" tab, click on "New..." to create a new modem specification.
Give the specification a name (Mine's O2 PAYG GPRS). For the Modem
selection, use Cellular Line (GPRS) and set the Baud Rate to 57600 and click
on Next.
For the Access point name, use payandgo.o2.co.uk and click Finish
Next, click on the Proxy Settings, and put a check in both the boxes & click
Advanced.
Use the following server addresses & ports:
HTTP: 193.113.200.195 port 8080
WAP: 193.113.200.195 port 8080
SOCKS: 193.113.200.195 port 1080 (not sure if this works as I've never had
to use it)
OK your way back out to the today screen and launch Internet Explorer
When launching any website for the first time, you'll be asked for a
username, password and domain.
Username: payandgo
Password: password
Domain: <empty>
the beauty of this is, it uses the O2 WAP proxy, which will still serve web
pages and uses the 1MB of free allowance that is given from O2 each month.
If you get any problems with this, simply reply / message me and I'll try
and give more details on my setup.
I've been using the PAYG internet on an XDA for a couple of months now and
never had any issues with it (apart from lack of credit lol)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK now it does the whole "windows installing" bit, man I hat microsoft,
anyways... so then you have to do the calibrating of the screen and
eventually choose between install types... pick CORPORATE INSTALL (passcode:
0506) then let the thing install itself to its most pure and basic self....
Alright now you have to set the connection back up. 3G and phoning takes
care of itself automatically, but to connect to the internet you need to add
a new connection (in settings bit):
the o2 Details for that is
connection name: o2 web
access point: mobile.o2.co.uk
username: faster
pw: password
CLICK Advanced tab, go to servers, pick the second bullet point and set the
servers address as follows
DNS: 193.113.200.200
AltDNS:193.113.200.201
now if you have had wireless set up go to your wireless settings and do that
according to your ISP provider for the wireless, not rocketscience at all.
For MMS settings
server O2UK
193.113.200.195
port 9201
server address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Below are the settings for O2 Exec setup, I have copied them directly out of
an email XDA Tech Support gave me in an attempt to get MMS working on my
Qtek 9100 (they haven't finalised the build for the O2 Wizard yet, so he
gave me these as both devices are WM5).
When it comes to MMS check with Customer Services that you have provisioning
on your account for it.
