Afternoon all,
While the news this morning that roaming prices
in Europe might become marginally less prohibitive
is encouraging, I am going to Spain next week and
Holland later in the year and need regular GPRS
access while there. I don't plan on making many
calls, but will probably use 8MB of data.
My Orange contract works out as £10/MB which is
ridiculous (but not the worst). As far as I can see,
my best option without another contract is Virgin
Mobile PAYG by Direct Debit. This is £5.12/MB
both in the UK and abroad.
The SIM is £10 with £5 credit so I break even over
the Orange price once I've used a bit more than
1MB. It has the added advantage that it's the same
price in Holland and the call make/receive rates are
60p/30p which is also cheaper than on my contract.
Can anyone think of a cheaper way?
Do T-Mobile still do their T-Zones bundles? I used to have something
like a 3MB bundle for £5 a month with out-of-bundle MBs costing £3 each.
The thing was, because they charged the same standard GPRS rate in
Europe as the UK (£7.50/MB?), usage in Spain was charged at this low
out-of-bundle rate. I was charged the same rate on 2 separate holidays
in Spain several months apart. This was a couple of years ago, mind.
