Opera Mini and o2 PAYG

My searches so far suggest that the Opera Mini browser needs my Motorola V550 to have an "Internet Profile" instead of a "Wap Profile" but that I can't have one on o2 PAYG. Is this correct? It's complicated by the fact that I don't know what an internet profile is or how it differs from a wap profile. I can find some "Web Sessions" on the phone (involving IP addresses, DNS, GPRS Apns, domains etc.) but have not come across any "Profiles" My phone's browser works OK on o2 Active GPRS and I can do POP3 mail but it can't cope with web pages as well as Mini (seems to...) I'd be obliged if any kind folk could explain to me or point me to resources :)
