Nearing end of o2 contract

Hi all,
Had a missed call on my phone today, I called back when I had the chance and
was told to call 150 as I was already eligible for a free upgrade now.
The number I called was 01554754901 and I was asked how much I pay per
month.
Has anyone else had this happen to them? Is it common practise for o2 to do
this? Just want to be sure in case it's some sort of scam...
One more thing, is it possible to check how long I have remaining on my
contract from the o2 site?
