Not sure whether it was late y'day or in the early hours of this
morning, which was when I first noticed it available on this PC. I've
installed it now.

I mostly use FF3 anyway. My main use of IE6 is to ensure that my own
site looks reasonable on it. Unfortunately, I can't check IE7, which
is causing me increasing concern, so at the risk of side tracking the
thread, if anyone running IE7 cares to take a look around and pass
constructive comments, I'd be most grateful:

As the Satellite TV section is new, that's the most likely to throw up
problems, I'm most worried about the first two installation pages,
General Introduction and Calculator, and the layout of the
mathematical symbols on pages 3 & 4 of the analysis section (click on
Show Maths):

Anyone care to help? TIA if so ...
I'm using IE7 and your pages look OK to me.
It's always wise, in my opinion, to make your website work in the most
up-to-date version of Windows as well as in older versions, so that
users, whatever version they're using, can view it properly.
A typical example was this site, which was recently updated.
http://nato.org.uk/
I found that there were bits missing when viewed in IE6 and contacted
the site owner. (I use IE7 at home and IE6 at work).
They contacted their webmaster and found he'd set it up for IE7 but
hadn't bothered making it compatible with IE6.
They've now changed it and it's visible in both versions of IE.
My personal view - not shared by all - is that sites look better in IE7
than in Firefox. They both have tabbed browsing and if you're not keen
on playing about with add-ons and the like, what's wrong with IE7,
which, after all, is updated frequently?

Well if you had programmed any scripts or had to design a web site you
would know the answer.

Thankfully, I'm just a user :-)
My personal view - puts on tin hat and waits for flak...

Nope. Thats YOUR experience, and its valid for YOU.

Let's just say, there are compliant browsers that execute javascript
neatly and fast, with few security holes, and good performance and there
is Internet Excrement.

But what are their USPs that would convince the average *user* to change
over?

What average user? I never met one :-)

For me the real reason is I dont run on PC's much, and I hate
Microsoft..more and more.

Probably the best reason to ditch IE, and Outlook, is security.

As THE popular platforms, and being very badly written underneath, they
are THE prime targets for malicious attacks.

Its designed to look good on the surface though.;-)

That's what I said, I think?

Yes, which is why I said it.

I can't argue with you and others in the know, who have difficulty with
it, but many millions of punters (including me) like it.

Sure. Lost of people like heroin too. ;-)
And unprotected sex.

whats that old quote

"a whore is easy to meet.."

ROFLMAO
