Even with really complicated printing (the expensive
bit) they don't cost more than about 15p.
What about DVD's..? Why are they so much more expensive here than
elsewhere..?
Video Recording Act (1985). It makes it impossible to import non-BBFC video titles commercially and sell them in competition with the local product. Hence, the distributors can charge what they like.
Likewise, there is a law against importing cheap music and selling that in competition with the local product. That's why Britain has always had the most expensive music titles in the world. Jump on ferry to Holland and you can find the exact same titles for a fraction of the price.

They would soon fall in price if people stopped buying them.
Its like everything else, if people will pay the price that's what you charge.
