In that case why - in your next post a minute later - have you advocated
using IPCONFIG /RENEW?
Because the utility will tell the OP if the adapter is configured to use DHCP or not, it will also wake it up if it's asleep. A NIC using DHCP to obtain an IP address does not lose its address when the lease expires if it's working correctly, that would indicate DHCP is broken at one end or the other.
