The question is whether a circuit that operates at voice
rfrequencies has an effect at radio frequencies.
Do you know what intermodulation distortion is?
Yes I do.
Look it up.
No need. Are you suggesting that passive components and networks
can create it ?
Ferrite is non-linear at higher magnetic flux levels and is used
for the filter inductors. I am not saying that in the case of
ADSL filters that this is necessarily a problem but the potential
exists in a poorly designed or manufactured filter for IMD.
I agree with the issue about design (which Peter Crosland refuted).
The manufacturing process won't influence it though.
Please show where I have done this? I repeatedly said quite the
opposite i.e. that poor quality filters do not perform as well as
good ones. Obviously the design is a part of the quality as well as
the physical quality of the components just as the assembly of them
is. It does not matter how good the quality of the components is if
the basic design is poor. In the case of the cheap ADSL filters the
design is so poor that even if they were made of top quality
componenst they would still not perform as well as a well designed
one.
Peter Crosland
& the reverse can also be true as well good components in a poor
quality design/installation can also cause vast problems...
