No, but you would not be able to claim for loses on your insurance if
you were out all day and left your door open 24/7. Equally, if you
have no security (or inadequate, e.g. WEP) on a WiFi LAN, you /should/
be held responsible for all actions undertaken with that LAN.

Although you don't get all these warnings with your front door lock.

I don't recall the last time the police warned me to lock my front
door when I went to work for X hours. Should I leave it open, unless
told to do otherwise?

So what you mean is society has taught you that you lock your front
door. Locks have been around for hundreds of years, WiFi has not.
People need to be taught what the correct procedure is, in time it
will become accepted practice.
