I know Virgin do internet for bt line but seems you have to
have their phone package and I am not sure this would be any good for a
Business customer. Speed is not critical but a reliable provider is required
and also with some pop email and reasonable webspace. Replies read with
interest.
Hi, I think that broadband provision is one thing, pop3 email and web
is another. I know that's provided as package by ISPs but personally
(I think others will agree) that you may be better (if you really need
POP3 and WWW) to go elsewhere for that, and look at getting your ADSL
connection sorted by a reputable provider.
I think this thread could go several miles over a decent ADSL
provider.. AFAIC it seems decent customer service is a major plus
these days.. it's ok having the lowest price out there for internet,
but if it goes down regularly and emails, and phone calls go
unanswered it's "no use to man or beast"
Plenty of people with that issue!
So my 2p worth - is to look at your ADSL provision..
Then consider your POP3 and WWW separately,
If you have ADSL and fancy your own SMTP server (if ISP allow it) you
could have your own incoming email and you can pick up your email
locally without POP3 externally. Your reliance on paid for external
POP3 is then diminished.
Regarding WWW hosting, I'd certainly not rely on your ISP for that..
I'm not going to recommend anyone.. as it's so objective.. but I'm
sure others will share their thoughts with various web hosts they use
It depends on what level of dependecy you want to place on companies
to do stuff for you.
Hope that helps
Regards
Steve
