Re: BT Home Hub

I would have to agree, used to use netgear 834 and never used to have
line drops, however the BT hub does drop. Also I notice you can only
use the filters that come with it, my other filters are now useless. It
is something to do with this kit and nearly sent it back.

Still on 6.1.1.K but it seems to working reasonably but noticeably more
flaky than the Voyager 2500V that it replaced. Far more line drops and the
like. As an amateur, the 2500V could be compared to a well built VW Golf
whereas I would compare the Home Hub to a Proton with go faster stripes.

Yes, I use time.nist.gov which XP also uses.

These routers make a call back to the update server, so it should
happen by itself, just give it time. Also you need to set the time on
the router, or use a time server

Mine didn't upgrade - who do I talk to ???
I did note however that changing from the default date 1/1/2000, does
tell
me that I have been connected for over 2000 days which in my experience
of
DSLMax is 'havin a larf'

Thanks for that, that is correct, by the way looks like routers have
been updated from 6.1.1.k to 6.1.1.M overnight

Nope, sweet bugger all of use to a techie! ................

Also the thing has a wep key on the back. Don't think that can

area

It only uses WEP encryption ?!?
Oh deary me ;o)

I'm sure you will stumble across the user guide sooner or
later...

http://www.homehub.bt.com/html/user-guide.pdf

Which after you have read it you will realise what's been said
so
far
is rubbish.

I have no reason to disagree with you apart from the FACT that the
User
Guide [both your pdf and my Hard Copy that came with the Home Hub]
gives
no
way of changing the security settings as the 'admin' log-on is
'basic'.
The
is a method of changing to WPA if one is using Fusion but I'm not
sure
if
this applies.

Can you not click on Advanced - then choose Change user - enter
admin
- admin and then become administrator? And then be able to access
the
more advanced pages?

Yes, I can do that and gain entry as Administrator but for the life
of
me, I
cannot find a page where I am able to alter the security settings.

Once you have done that do you get a menu down the left side that
says...

Home
BT Home Hub
.Information
.Configuration
.Event Logs
Broadband
Toolbox
Home Network

?

If you do Click Home Network

Then click .Interfaces

Then click WLAN SSID HyperLink

Then click Configure Hyperlink in top right.

You should see what you want there.

A bit convoluted I admit.
