Many ISPs use block lists from various providers - Spamhaus, SpamCop, SPEWS etc to block sources of Spam. Tesco's is very far from unique
Indeed, but some more clued-up ISPs only *mark* items which allows the
recipient to take action themself, if they wish, rather than have some
randomly blacklisted server/domain's mail being blocked by the receive
server (with rules possibly not disclosed to customers). Peter M.
Since Tesco's have a family reputation and many of the spammers are sending crude pornography I am not surprised they seek to block them rather than have them filling up the mailboxes for their customers and customers children to decide. The ISPs to complain about are the ones that are being blocked. They are the ones that are allowing their networks to be used for spam. If you don't like Tesco's policy you could always sign up for one of the top ten spammer ISP's http://www.spamhaus.org/statistics/networks.lasso. Yahoo makes number 4 on the list which is why it has such problems.
