Thanks for the hand holding Steve, it really is appreciated.
You could always do a complete hand crafted email via telnet and see if that has any more errors to work on.

OK, I went through your instructions and got the following (I x'd out some details)
================= telnet mailserver.iandb.me.uk 25 220 mail-frees01.fasthosts.co.uk ESMTP Postfix helo xxx.xxx.xxx.xx 250 mail-frees01.fasthosts.co.uk mail from:xxx@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx 250 Ok rcpt to:xxx@xxxxxxxxxxx 250 Ok data 354 End data with <CR><LF>.<CR><LF> From: xxx@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx To: xxx@xxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Test 2
This is a test .. 250 Ok: queued as 13C4316BE5E quit 221 Bye =================
I tried this three times and all three emails went to the correct destination.
If you get that email but not one sent by outlook (or whatever) then take a carefull look at the outlook (or whatever) setup.
I'm using Thunderbird. I tried using OE and the Vispa webmail system and none of them can send an email to iandb.me.uk.
I guess that now points the finger at the Vispa mail system configuration?
Yes, this kind of fault can be a bother to track down but carefull use of each bit of the system will get it sorted.
OK, I'll keep persevering. Thanks again.
