My 3mb NTL recorded 2825 kbps just now. To be far it's normally around this level so I'm not complaining.
That shows 262kbits/s for my 300kb connection, which is fair.
I wondered if the OP's figure had been determined with a browser download, the problem being that browsers can start to download while the save dialogue box is still up, but only start timing when the box is closed; this can give interestingly high apparent download speeds.

Tried that - gives 265 kbits/s, so not significantly different.....
Except I scrolled down the results page and found a second set of results showing 1.5Mb or thereabouts. Tried again, and got an impossibly fast 314kbit/s for my line - and a second results page showing about 30Mb. I should be so lucky :-)
I'm not sure I trust that site!
