Absolutely seconded. From the 'No USB ports showing up in device
manager', I am suspecting a large can of worms attempting to get them
working (Often the physical connectors are supplied with a case,
whether or not the motherboard supports USB) or they're disabled in
the bios. A network card install as stated elsewhere in this thread is
usually painless and simple, and the cards are cheap.
This would also make connecting to other networks or upgrading the
system with more than one computer far simpler in the future.
