Do you think this sounds like an alignment problem or cable / LNB. If
it is can these parts be bought from the high street like shops like
maplins ?
Maplins will probably have cable and LNB's, not necessarily
the finest quality, but should be adequate. Or eBay for a
spare Sky LNB, not so much variation in quality for Sky kit,
as for coax.
But first, what does the onscreen bargraph show for
signal strength and quality?
Can you easily reach the dish?
As two Sky boxes say "no signal" it is less likely to
be the box, unless one was abandoned years ago because
of "no signal".
Have you a cheap around 3 quid up, multimeter, with DC volts
and ohms?
Are signal strength and quality low and fluctuating?
If so disconnect both ends of coax, at LNB and STB.
Is there a high resistance between inner and outer of the
coax? If so suspect water in the coax, if it shows a
low resistance suspect a braid to inner short.
