Thanksto all that took the time to reply.\
Basically the box is dead. I cannot get it out of standby, no amount
of button pushing will get it to budge. I am now considering trying to
have it repaired to use as a spare for the new unit I purchased today.
Will update this thread as and when I find out what has gone wrong
with the box.
What you can do is,
phone sky to cancel - and tell them why.
they will offer a repair, you say no - virgin are connecting you to
broadband next week and they will give you a FREE cable box.
you have to go through with the cancellation - through to the cancel people
who are there to change your mind.
they will then offer a reduced price repair - hold your ground and they will
offer to do it for free.
at least it worked for me!
but dont blame me if they follow through and accept your request to
cancel.....
