Hello,
I looking at getting Sky HD, but am loathe to pay £299 for the box,
plus £60 for someone to plug it into the wall. There are new boxes
advertised on eBay for £170 with free delivery, and a manufacturers
warranty.
If you already have a quad LNB and two feeds to your box it's easy, if you
have a standard installation then someone needs to change the LNB and run a
new cable.
Are there any potential problems with going down this route? As I
understand it, I just need to call up Sky and get them to marry my
card up with the new box. Presumably they'll want to come and
collect my current digibox, which has only been installed a few days.
You would be very silly to ley anyone take the box away, it belongs to you.
Secondly, can anyone point me to a list of the channels that will be
available in HD if I choose not to pay Sky the extra £10 a month. Is
it just the BBC offerings?
Finally, does anyone have any idea when ITV might be available in HD
from sky, and whether it may too be FTA?
ITV haven't made any announcements regarding HD, their SD transmissions are
already FTA so if they ever start HD it's likely they will be too.

Chris
