Sky+

No doubt this has been gone over before, but I was not a Sky+ subscriber then (nor am I any longer, apparently!).
Two observations:
In re the justification for a Sky+ subscription - the box has 2 tuners, so it could be argued (and presumably is by Sky) that the subscription to allow the recording functionality is a sub for the second tuner. I am, however, pleased (not to say surprised) that this sub is being dropped for subscribers.
In re the monopoly of Sky through them not allowing third parties to access their CAM (whatever that is) - why does the government/monopoly commission not act? BY had to open its systems to their telecoms companies, utilities companies are in a free-for-all over selling us power. BR and others were nationalised. ISTM that if three were a will to introduce free competition to the satellite market, it could be legislated for quite easily.
Or, maybe I'm missing something?
George
