Sky HD Upgrade from Freeview Box ?

Hi, wonder if anyone can help.

I recently quit Sky+ in favour of freeview.

I bought a Thomson DTI6300 which I understand has a 160GB Hard Drive.

However, I dont seem to be in a good area for freeview (too many
trees) and have been unimpressed with the few channels on Top-up TV.

So I have taken up a new offer by Sky, to get free Sky plus etc.

They are coming out this week to fit a new (recon) box, but it
apparently only has a 40 Gig (20 hour) drive, which I will be looking
to upgrade soon.

Now for the compicated bit........

The obvious thing to do is sell the Thomson box to pay for the
upgrade.....

Howerver, though I paid £180 for the box, they have recently dropped
the price, so I could only reasonably expect to get aroud £80 for it
on Ebay, and HD Sky upgrades are going for about £95.

A better solution would be to cannibalise the Thomson box, and install
the 160G drive into the new Sky box......

Question 1 : Would it be compatible (I understand the Thomsons are
fitted with a Seagate DB35 series drive)

Question 2 : Would I need to erase / format or do anything else to the
drive.

Question 3 : The Icing on the Cake..... If I could fit the old Sky HD
to the Thomson Box (effectively downgrading it) I could pass that on
to another family member..... does anyone know if that would work ?

Before you ask, I don't know till Thursday what sort of Sky box I'm
getting, but I currently have one of the original Pace boxes which are
very susceptible to the 17 minute bug.

Well there we go.......

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Love & light to all !
