switching from NTL

This may be a case of 'out of the frying pan...' but I am considering
switching from NTL cable to Sky. We have a digital service from NTL and
despite promises when we moved here 7 years ago they do not provide the
interactive service, broadband etc. In addition the picture keeps freezing
or the screen will just go blank their engineers blame an overload on the
main box that supplies our neighbourhood. We recently had to call them out
only to have the appointment cancelled because 'NTL do not provide a service
in our area' (why do I bother to pay their bill? Which seems considerably
more than Sky. Family package plus Sky Sports 1 and 3, no movies or other
premium channels = £42 and each additional box is charged at £15p.m..
A couple of questions:
Is it likely that a Sky engineer would be able to use the NTL cabling
(assuming NTL leave it and just remove their boxes) as the existing cabling
runs through a newly decorated room and behind some fixed furnishing.
I would want the supply in 3 rooms so do I assume that each additional box
(say Sky+) would be £10 p.m.
Any help would be appreciated - hope I haven't bored you all!!
Cheers
Martin
