Hi
I hope someone can help me. My parents got themselves a cheap
satellite system and installed it this weekend. The signal strength is
good and they can get some of the channels but the ones they really
wanted (and we assumed would be available free) are missing. They can
get 136 (men and motors) and most of the shopping channels but things
that I'd be certain they could get like BBC1 and ITV are missing. All
you get is a 'No satellite signal is being received' message. They
don't have a viewing card. Do they need to get one even for those
basic channels?
Heather
General possibilities (without reference to specific channels):
1. Faulty receiver isn't switching between low band and high band
2. Faulty receiver isn't switching between polarities
3. Faulty LNB isn't switching between low band and high band
4. Faulty LNB isn't switching between polarities
5. LNB power is affected by bad contact at 'f' connector
6. Cable is damp inside
7. Cable is damaged
8. Severe terrestrial interference
9. Dish is slightly off beam
10. Dish is physically distorted
11. Signal path is partially obstructed
12. Receiver has tuner fault
13. Receiver has psu fault
14. Cable is incorrect type
15. Faulty LNB switches OK but has low gain or high noise in one or more
polarities/bands
