The clue here is that the LED on the box responds to RC commands.
Pace boxes with ZIF tuners (like the 2500) that are stuck in standby but
respond to the RC usually have a defective tuner.
True, freezing and no sat signal are more common symptoms of tuner failure,
but believe me, the symptoms you describe *usually* respond to tuner
replacement (YMMV)
Mind you, in your part of the world, you might want to consider replacing
that receiver for one that has a conventional tuner.
The ZIF tuner is notorious for not coping well with transponders received
with widely different field strengths.
