I did not realize that there was such a disparity in coverage between
the pre analog switch off PSB multiplexes and the commercial ones.
And surely it cannot be just that difference alone, because I thought
most (but not all) sites which broadcast the pre analog switch off
multiplexes also broadcast analog `five' or those homes are covered by
another transmitter broadcasting analog `five' (eg Lichfield instead of
Sutton Coldfield).
Furthermore the statements on the Freeview site regarding the movement
of `five', namely
"these improvements will ensure that Five will be available to all
Freeview homes *at the point of switchover*"
and
"Parliament has required that Five moves to a public service multiplex
to provide universal coverage *at switchover*."
would, I hope you agree, tend to make people think that `five' was
not previously available on the PSB multiplexes at switched over sites
and was being moved on those, rather than pre switch over sites.
