No, sorry, you get me wrong. All the digital text services work
perfectly, as does the red button. What I meant was, when I
switched the subtitles on or off it made no difference to the
caption that displayed on the radio channel. Nor did turning the TV
off at the mains (and on again obviously).
I think what you have described is that the "static" text and graphics
are displayed when you watch/listen to a radio channel on Freeview but
that the updates to this onscreen display do not appear.
Well, it's not quite as simple as that because the only message I get on the
radio channels is something like "5 Live Drive 16.00 - 19.00 | Next Five
Live Sport |", which is a caption that does not appear on the TVs with STBs,
where the message chages periodically and is something like "News Tech(2) -
The Obama regime has come under pressure...", and is never just the
programme information on the IDTV.
A suggestion for an experiment:
Select your local ITV station, LCN 3, then get Teletext on screen.
Leave it on Page 100. There will be an advert under the picture. This
advert should change at intervals. At the moment I'm seeing British
Gas, Vodaphone, and NSPCC ads being shown for 10-12 seconds each.
Yes, they change just as you describe. What does that mean?
It means that whatever is causing the problem on the radio channels is
not affecting Teletext in an apparently similar way.
