I have a Logik LDR V2 STB connected using scart via an aging Panasonic VCR/DVD combi player to a very cheap 14" Bush CRT TV, which I generally use just to record a second set of programmes while I'm away on holiday.
Last time I did that, I set the STB to channel 1 and set up all the programmes I wanted to record as AV2 on the VCR, merely setting the times and dates differently on the VCR since all the programmes I wanted were on BBC1. However, half way through, after recording some programmes correctly, the channel mysteriously switched to BBC2, and I therefore missed half of what I wanted.
Just last weekend, having left the TV on standby, I found on Monday that it had strangely switched itself on, and was showing BBC2 whereas I'm pretty sure I had left the STB set to channel 1, ie BBC1.
Has anyone any idea what is going on here? Why does the STB (if it is the STB) suddenly decide to switch channels and turn the TV on? And is there anything I can do about it?
Thanks for any help.
The Logik may have a timer programming feature that uses a SCART status line to control a VCR. The TV may also support a similar feature that turns it on when you play back a VCR recording. If the Logik's signal is being fed to the TV, it could cause the TV to turn on.
If the VCR supports the same feature, it would be better to set up timer events on the Logik and let it tell the VCR when to start and stop recording. You wouldn't then be restricted to a single channel.
