I find it absurdly long and bloody maddening, it's *so* much longer
than anything else that I think I've turned it on or off, only to
discover that I haven't. This can even be entirely counter-productive
to your putative reasoning, for example I once left the TV on blank AV
input all night because I didn't press the power button on the remote
for long enough to actually switch it off.

I only have the one Panasonic TV, but I've always assumed the need to
press the 'On' button for a protracted period was by design in order to
reduce the risk of the set accidently being switched back on by a
corrupted command word[1] or nocturnally active pets since such an event
increases the chance of a pyrotechnical fault going unnoticed in the
night. IOW, it's a safety related issue.
