However, I decided to take a look. I Googled and found some
instructions. I am using Vista. regedt32 seems to direct you to the
registry editor and I cannot find any option to click REG_MULTI_SZ
there. Have you accomplished this in Vista? The VDD key is currently
set to 'default'.
REG_MULTI_SZ is the Type (see the headings); you can't change this. If you
click on the name you can change its value. If you right click on it you
can
choose delete.
I've no idea whether this is a good idea in your case as I don't know
where
you got the information.
The information came from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314452
I tried to delete the default key (?) but it is not possible to delete
this. If you create a new key it can be set up as REG_MULTI_SZ but
this does not solve the problem.
On my system, under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers\
I have two entries:
(Default) REG_SZ (value not set)
VDD REG_MULTI_SZ
The VDD has no value (blank)
Do you have this?
I think it's the VDD one which you have to delete and then add back again.
If that's what you've done, have you checked the Command.com file as
suggested (though they only give the details of the XP version)?
No, I only have the default one. This cannot be deleted. It is
possible to add a second entry REG_MULTI_SZ and then there are two
entries. It is still not possible to delete the default. So what I
am wondering is whether it is okay to have both forms in existence or
does the default need to be deleted as the instructions suggest?
